Interested in Becoming an Apprentice? Start with Employment!

PPSC apprenticeships combine employment with classroom learning, so you must first be hired by one of our participating employer partners before you can become an apprentice.

Your path to an apprenticeship:

  1. Explore available apprenticeship occupations and employer partners.

  2. Apply for a job with a participating employer.

  3. Get hired into an eligible position.

  4. Connect with PPSC Apprenticeship Team to guide you through the next steps.

Train to be a surgical technologist in just 4 semesters at PPSC. Surg Tech apprentices are hired by one of PPSC’s healthcare partners and take classes to complete the Surg Tech Associate of Applied Sciences while also learning on the job. When they successfully complete the apprenticeship, they earn a diploma from PPSC and are prepared to take the national certification examination for surgical technology (once accreditation approval from CAAHEP has been received).

Employment comes first. To participate in the Early Childhood Education apprenticeship, you must first be hired into an eligible position with a participating employer partner.

Apprentices complete classes while working according to the schedule established with their employer. Over the course of the apprenticeship, students complete a total of 2,000 hours of on-the-job training.

Apprentices may also qualify to receive ECE 1045 credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) with employer sign-off, reducing the total number of credits they pay for the program to 15 credits.

Interested students should begin by reviewing and applying for available positions with CPCD or Little Sunshine. Once hired into an eligible position, the PPSC Apprenticeship Team can help guide them through the next steps.
