Audrey Hartman
Ph.D. Composition & Applied Linguistics, Indiana University of Pennsylvania
I have been teaching English at colleges and universities since 2005 and am so pleased to call Pikes Peak State College home! My professional experience in higher education includes administrative roles in academic leadership as an associate dean as well as writing program directorship. I have also served as an editor on literary journals. Prior to working in higher ed, I was a professional grant writer for multiple non-profit organizations. Recently, I was invited to serve as an editor for the Experiential Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Journal out of California State University, which aligns with my research interests in High Impact Practices.
English Composition I, II, II (1021, 1022, 2001); English 0094/1021 Co-Requisite; Introduction to Literature (1015); Children's Literature (2055); Creative Writing I, II (2021, 2022)
My research interests are rooted in studies on High Impact Practices. My 2023 dissertation, "The Implementation of High Impact Practices at Community Colleges: Insider Perspectives of How HIPs Work" offers an analysis on how community college faculty talk about the implementation of High Impact Practices (HIPs) in their classes and what that really means. The purpose of the study was to understand the patterns of HIPs that may lead to student confidence, motivation, and persistence in higher ed. Recently, I have become interested in researching how elements of HIPs may help to offset AI use.
